Branching Conversations with External Tools

DeepChat's standout feature is conversation branching. At any point in a chat, you can fork the thread to explore an alternative approach — and each branch retains access to the same MCP tools. This is useful for comparing how different prompts or strategies interact with external data.

The app stores everything locally, giving you full control over your data. MCP connections are the only outbound requests, and you configure each one explicitly.

What DeepChat offers:

  • Conversation branching — fork chats to explore multiple directions
  • Multi-provider — OpenAI, Anthropic, Google, and local Ollama
  • Theme engine — extensive customization including fonts, colors, and layouts
  • Markdown export — share conversations as formatted documents
  • Local storage — all data stays on your machine
  • Cross-platform — Electron-based desktop app

3. Start Chatting

MCP tools appear in your conversations. Branch a thread to test different ways of using the same tool in parallel paths.
